£70,000 towards your deposit? Surely not...

Why is Blackpool Council apparently offering up to £70,000 to help first timers who are struggling to find a 25% deposit.  According to Councillor Peter Callow, leader of Blackpool Council, it's because “Increasing the supply of affordable housing for residents is a key priority. We are proud to be one of the first local authorities to invest in the LA Mortgage Scheme which is launched nationally today".
